August 17, 2006
This letter brings news of my plans for the immediate future. I will retire from my practice of obstetrics and gynecology effective August 31, 2006. I have been practicing here at Chapel Hill OB/GYN for 26 years and have enjoyed every day of it. I am most fortunate to have worked here with colleagues who are also my friends as well as having intelligent, friendly, interesting patients. Every morning when I arose, it was with pleasant anticipation of knowing I would have a good day at work. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your doctor and for your loyalty to me and to Chapel Hill OB/GYN. I will miss you, my patients, and my coworkers here at Chapel Hill OB/GYN, but it is time for me to move on to the next thing. My wife has been as much a slave to the call schedule as I have over the years, and it is time for us to have some fun and relaxation together. We plan to do some traveling and relaxing together. We will continue to live here in the Triangle area, and so, you may see me from time to time around town. Therefore, this is not goodbye, but “so long”.
I am leaving you in the very capable hands of my partners Drs. Lassiter, Fried, Clark, Chappell, and Hardison as well as our nurse practitioner, Melinda Everett, who will continue to provide personalized continuity of care. Your medical records will remain available here at our office.
Again, thank you so much for entrusting your medical care to me for the last 26 years.
Sincerely,
John W. Lane, M.D.
