Why does the practice share call duties with Durham Women's Clinic?

Chapel Hill Obstetrics and Gynecology is a busy practice, serving the needs of numerous patients 24 hours a day.  Four of our physicians rotate on-call duties, including deliveries and after-hours emergency care, with four physicians from Durham Women's Clinic.  Our participation in this collaborative on-call system allows all of our patients to be cared for by a rested physician when services outside of our office are needed.  It also allows us more office time for all of our patients than we would be able to provide were we not in a shared call system.  Both practices are a part of the Women's Health Alliance, and share in the philosophy of individualized care and state-of-the-art medicine. For our obstetrical patients, there is a consistent opportunity to meet our partners from Durham Women's Clinic during their prenatal appointments at Chapel Hill Obstetrics and Gynecology. Of note, the remaining large OB/GYN groups at Durham Regional Hospital are part of the Duke System, and have a similar call-sharing arrangement.
