A native of Colerain, North Carolina, Dr. Lassiter graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1962 with a B.S. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1966, before serving in the USAF for two years. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in 1971, and joined Chapel Hill Obstetrics and Gynecology that same year.
